Augmented Reality has proved a massive hit with consumers and marketers alike in 2011 and this trend looks set to continue throughout 2012 and beyond.
Currently brands such as Starbucks, IBM, Ray Ban and BMW, to name but a few, are harnessing Augmented Reality to further market their products and brands.
In truth Augmented Reality is currently nowhere near the market penetration it will soon enjoy when you don’t need to hold a smartphone or tablet up to experience it.
AR glasses will enhance a range of Augmented Reality applications, be it navigation, instructions, pseudo holographic displays and so on. The broad and diverse range of opportunities we are presented with when we master how to overlay our realities with augmented data effectively, is quite frankly amazing and AR Glasses will play a huge part in this.
Currently tech glasses manufacturer Vuzix manufacture a pair of Augmented Reality glasses for the R&D markets (The Wrap™ 920AR) which cost around $1500.00 but expect the cost and size of eyewear to fall dramatically over the next few years and as AR glasses become more accessible expect to see Augmented Reality overlaid on everything we do, literally!
